Vintage images Baby cards

It's me again!

Still on vacation, so I'm just sharing some of my past cards with you all. I couldn't leave these two little darlings off my list of favorites now could I? I loved making these two and was so chuffed with how they came out. They took quite a bit of time to make but I think it was worth it!! Let me know what you think!

Penny Black - girl with pencil

Happy Friday everyone!

Here is another one of my cards that I made at the beginning of the year. This one has the stamp by Penny Black the little girl with a pencil. I added the sentiment "Just Because" so this card could be used for any occasion really. The colors on this card were a special request from someone, and although the card is quite plain, I still like it!

I hope when you are reading this I'm at least having a good time, coz outside right now the weather is horrible, thunder and lightning.....not at all boating weather....ooh wait a minute, I just looked over in the direction we are heading (I'm writing this on Friday May 22nd remember!!), and I see a little bit of a blue sky!!! Oh please let it be nice when we get to the boat ramp!!!

Hope you are all having fun and getting busy with the creative juices!!
Happy crafting!

Hugs,
Charlotte

Penny Black - Uplifting!!!!

Well I figured what the heck I've been showing some of my previous cards and this has to be one of my favorites coz it was so much fun to make! I already knew what I was going to do with this one even before I received the stamp!!! LOL
I adore this Penny Black stamp and could just imagine my cat doing this!!!! Too funny! Anyway, this one was colored with prismacolor pencils and the undies and hankie were embossed to make them all shiny!! I cut out and raised the image to make it look like they were hanging on a washing line! It was a little time consuming cutting all the bits out but I love how it turned out! I think the colors made the image stand out and of course I had to show the inside too!! I finish all the insides of my cards to coordinate with the outside, don't like to leave them blank!

Card recipe
DP - Best occasions
Stamp - Penny Black - Uplifting
Scalloped edging - Martha Stewart edge punch
Ribbon - Michael's (I think)

These posts are going to get shorter coz I am writing them all in one shot!!! See you all when I get back!

Sugar Nellie - Reflective

Hope you all enjoyed a really great and safe Memorial Day!

Another one of my past cards that was made in February this year. I just love this image of the little girl in dungarees (overalls) with plaits (braids) .....that was so me growing up.....tomboy! Anywhoo, this image is another one I own from designer Elisabeth Bell.....maybe I should take stock in her!!!!! LOL

I colored the image in prismacolor pencils and raised her on dots. Glittered parts of her hair, pockets, and flowers to give her a little sparkle. I machine stitched the card inside and out and added some cute little embellishments.

Card recipe
Stamp - Elisabeth Bell - Reflective
DP - making memories Simply Fabulous - Brooke narrow stripe and Brooke paisley
chipboard buttons - colorbok
plastic flower - Party Fun Pack
metal dragonfly bead - JoAnn's
Ribbon and gems - Michael's

Still on vacation so I will check up with everyone when I get back :)

MIdnight Madness MMSC 3

Happy Tuesday Folks!

If this post works you should be seeing it on May 26th!!!! I've tried to schedule things before and they have not worked!!!

Hope everyone is ready for the Midnight Madness challenge today!!! Yes it's that time again when we show how creative we can get with the 3rd MMSC...and I know we have had some absolutely fabulous entries. Great job everyone who entered.....and if you didn't....what yer waiting for....there's an awesome prize to be won and this is soooooo much fun so come on down and play!!! Check out the site at Priscilla's, get all the details and get cracking!!!

This time I decided to use a vintage image I've had for a while but never used. I love this picture.....the little girl, flowers and colors are so pretty, don't you think? The dp I used is from DCWV Old World Stack.... the ones I chose are embossed so give a nice texture to the card. I don't own all those fancy embossing tools (yet), so when a designer paper is embossed, I'm loving it!!! I layered the image with pop dots to give extra dimension, sprinkled the flowers with sparkling embossing powder and raised them and her bow higher with dots. All the flowers are from Prima and the ribbon is some left over holiday wired edge from Michael's. I stitched the card and added a ribbon buckle from Joann's.

Card recipe
DP - DCWV Old World Stack & Glitter Christmas stack
Ribbon - Celebrate It, Holiday ribbon bow tique from Michael's
Flowers - Prima, Nursery Rhymes from Michael's
Ribbon Buckle - JoAnn craft essentials
Image - S. Paxton

Let me know what you think!

Sugar Nellie - A Good Book

Happy Memorial Day to You all!

Here's on of my cards I made way before having a blog, and I just loved how this one came out. One of my favorite stamp artists is Elisabeth Bell and this one is called "A Good Book", the little cat and butterfly are from one of her other little girls but I chose to add them to this card. I hand cut the tree and grass.....which seemed to take forever! The leaves were stamped from a set of floral stamps I have then cut out by hand and placed on dots to make them stand out. This card was very time consuming but I figured it's a one of a kind....yeah right.....I ended up making a second one as I had a special request for it! The image is colored in prismacolor pencils and sparkly embossing powder was added to the book, flowers on her hat and tree. Let me know what you think.

card recipe
dp - Making memories ice blue, expresso and emerald green textured
Stamp - Elisabeth Bell - A good Book and Planting Some Love
Glitter - Martha Stewart -Brownstone
Leaves - All Night Media, Bouquet set

Hope you like it!

Penny Black Cat in a Hammock!

Happy Saturday!

Well, I figured that as I am on vacation with no access to the computer I should leave you at least with something to look at!! This card was made back in February but I thought it quite appropriate as I am out on a boat, probably in the ocean and not swinging between two palm trees......but you never know!!
I love this image from Penny Black and actually got permission from the official headquarters that I can get this image painted on the back of our boat!! Not done it yet, but can't wait to sport this lazy cat on the ocean!!!
I colored cat in a Hammock with prismacolor pencils and added some sparkly embossing powder, made him 3d with pop dots and added the braided shiny string and metal shell beads to add to the beachy effect. I hope you like it.

card recipe
cardstock - Best occasions
white vine embossed paper - Making Memories white vines
stamp - Penny Black cat in Hammock
metal shell beads - party fun pack beach
shiny string - Martha Stewart

Have a great weekend!

DUSTIN PIKE NEW IMAGES!!

WANNA HULA HULA??
Miss Hawaiian Monkey 2009!!Happy Thursday everyone!

So what are you all up to?? Having some fun in the sun??? If you're not, you should be!!! Just like little monkey here.....go ahead do the hula dance...you'll feel better for it! Well, today is Dustin's new release day!!! Can we say WHOOO HOOO YEAH! I wish I'd had more time to work on more images but things have been busy with Thijs' end of year at school......yep, tomorrow is his last day of pre-K.....so I've been burning the midnight oil trying to get the teacher's gifts and cards made, and making goodies for their "Beach Party" today!

Anywhoo, I had a blast with this monkey image, it was so fun to make and I know there will be more, many more coz you can do so many things with Dustin's images....they just make you feel like a kid again..........and this one cracked me up!! I colored the images with copics, made some parts 3d with pop dots, added some Hawaiian flowers and leaves and voila....there you have it! Miss Hawaiian Monkey 2009!! I love to stitch my cards to give a little extra detail so this one is stitched inside and out. The ALOHA saying I was originally going to put on the front of the card but then decided to put the little masks....think that was a much better choice. All those funky faces and Miss Hawaiian Monkey beaming her innocent smile! Hey wait a minute.....don't you think she looks a bit pale?? Maybe I should have made her darker, nah, she can get some color from hanging out at the beach!

Well, that's it for today, but before you leave hop on over to Dustin's hangout, check out what's going on over there and don't forget to checkout the other designers creations.......they are getting really creative!!! click on the team members names on my sidebar.....You will be glad you did!

Have a fabulous Thursday!
Hugs to you all,

Anywhooo, it's freebie time over at Dustin's place, Dustin's place, Dustin's place...it's freebie time over at Dustin's place.......tra la la la la!!! (Blame Spyder girl for that one!!!!!) You don't want to miss this freebie..................it's adorable!! I haven't had the chance to make a card yet, but will definately be having a go at coloring the image....even if it's in the car waiting in line to pick up my son!!! The teacher's must think I'm nuts coloring!!! It's just that Dustin's images are just too much fun to work with!! They're addicting I tell you!

The design team have some awesome sneak peaks, so head on over to their blogs and check them out!! I made my party animals for my sneaky peaky for tomorrows release. I punched a car image from Sizzix out of yellow foam then colored the animal images in copics and prismacolor markers, popped them all in the vehicle with dots to make them stand out, then added more foam decorations around the outside. The "celebrate" sign is from JoAnn Craft Essentials. The foam accessories are from creative hands.

Card recipe
Cardstock - Expresso and Primary orange from the Paper company

MIDNIGHT MADNESS SKETCH CHALLENGE 2

Happy Tuesday everyone! You know what that means........MMSC2!!!! Wow what a turn out we had for the first MMSC1!! Those of you who played along should be very proud of yourselves....what a terrific variety of cards you all made! It was great to go to your blogs to check them all out. We have some very talented crafters I must say!!

As a DT member I decided to be a little more creative this week and made a covered box instead of a card. I've had this black and white vintage image of two little girls for a while yet couldn't decide what to do with it, but then while looking through all the papers I have I came across the black corduroy cardstock, matched it with the pale pink and voila....there you have it! I raised the image and embossed with clear powder to give the little girls a vintage photograph appearance. I colored the rose pink with copics to give just a little hint of color. The box I covered first with the black corduroy cardstock then wrapped it in a black sheer thick ribbon. The lace I draped at the top and bottom of the box, then added a line of pink gems on the right side. The bow on top is the same sheer ribbon tied together with a metal flower button, lace and beads. A hat pin with beads was the last finishing touch.

I'm really delighted how it came out, but I'd love to hear what you think!

If you haven't been over to Priscilla's blog yet, you might want to check it out and join in the fun.....
"You still have till Midnight tonight (EST) to get your MMSC1 week #1 project uploaded to Mr. Linky, so it's not too late. Happy Monday Everyone!

Happy Monday folks!!

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful weekend, got some rest and are ready to start a new week!

Well I couldn't resist showing you some photos from our weekend out on the boat.....not really the whole weekend but part of it. What an incredibly peaceful time it was......gets you away from the real world....if only for a day! As you can see from the photos, Thijs loved his new toys!!! He spent most of the day in the water with his mask and snorkle and fishing rod (he wasn't really fishing....just pretending to) We all enjoyed looking at the fish swimming around underneath us, and the coral too. Last time we were out we were lucky enough to see a manatee swim right past the boat and times before we've seen dolphin playing in the ocean too. It's so tranquil out there....you just want to stay on the ocean forever!!!

As we are leaving for our first vacation on the boat upcoming Friday, this was a trial run to make sure everything is working as it should. We checked out the generator, air conditioner and all other appliances and they all worked great.....still don't have a/c working at home though!!! Perhaps we should just sleep on the boat on the trailer!!!!! LOL So this week is going to be really busy in the de Zwart household. Sooooo many things to get done.....I do hope to have a little time to make a few cards though, as I need to post some soon.

Midnight Madness
Tomorrow of course is the Midnight Madness sketch challenge number 2, so I hope you will all join in the fun......the cards from MMSC1 have been terrific....some people entering more than one creation....so we look forward to seeing much more of your inspiring designs! If you haven't joined in the fun yet, pop on over to Priscilla's blog to check out the goodies celebrating the launch of Midnight Madness......you don't want to miss out on the prize!!!

Dustin Pike
I have some really cute designs from Dustin Pike's upcoming release on May 21st.....so you don't want to miss these either. Check out Dustin's blog, especially on Wednesday for his next freebie!!! Need to get cracking on the cards for the DT!

Salute to all the teachers in the world!
As the school year is fast approaching, I also want to make some special cards for Thijs' teachers to say Thank You for the wonderful job that they do....teacher's sometimes are so unappreciated....they deserve much more recognition for the job they do....and each year that comes I think that their jobs become more difficult... especially since they are definately not paid what they are worth!!! We are so happy with the preK teacher that Thijs has, she is amazing and really does teach because she loves and enjoys her job. So please don't forget to show your appreciation to the teachers in your lives....they so deserve some recognition!!!

With that said, I need to get my act together and get off the computer and get some cards started!!!!!

Hugs,
Charlotte

Mojo Monday - Sugar Nellie stamp

Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying your day!

Wow, it's been busy here in the de Zwart residence!! First thing this morning the air conditioner stopped working!!! Yikes, in the high 80 degree temps. too!!! Still waiting for the repair man to turn up, they said it would be between 10:00 and 12:00 and it's now 1:00pm so only an hour late!!!

So did you all check out the Midnight Madness Design Teams cards??? I hope so, wow, what amazing talent don't you think! This morning was the first chance we got to view each others work and I was impressed........now I have definately got my work cut out for me after seeing my team mates designs!!! Yikes! It would be lovely if you would join in the fun and send in some of your creations because there are so many talented people out there. I so enjoy looking at your blogs and seeing all the different styles......it gives me inspiration that's for sure.

Ok, now for my card. I colored this image in a while ago and have had her sitting patiently waiting for me to place her somewhere special. So today for the Mojo Monday I figured I would use her and as pale pink is my fav. color I figured I would keep her soft and gentle with the pink and a little touch of green. I colored her in copics and layered her so she stands out from the card. The paper is one of my favorites from making memories. I added leaves and the flowers and of course the machine stitching which I think softens the card. Let me know what you think!

Card Recipe
designer paper - making memories simply fabulous, Brooke paisley and Brooke narrow stripe
Stamp - Sugar Nellie, designer Elisabeth Bell's Demure
Ribbon - Basics from Michael's
Leaves - cut using Martha Stewart punch
Flowers - Prima, Nursery Tales Fancy stix
Gems - Michael's

Enjoy the rest of your day!
Hugs, Charlotte

Happy Mother's Day - to those who celebrate in May!

Hello everyone,

For those of you who celebrate Mother's Day in May.....Happy Mother's Day!
In the UK I know it is celebrated in March...so Happy Sunday to you!

Just a quick post so you don't think I am MIA!! This little purse card was made especially for my Mother in law so I hope she likes it! It's the first time I have tried to make a purse card so I was pleased with the results. I can't take credit for the actual purse shape....that was thanks to Martha Stewart! However, I did cover it completely in lavender cardstock and Provo Craft designer paper which is pale lemon with little purple flowers. The stamp, of course one of my favorite designers.....Elisabeth Bell, which I colored in prismacolor pencils. The purple flower was a gift. Ribbon was Anna Griffin and gems were by colorbok. That's it for today as I'm tired!!! However, I will be posting some other cards next week.

Have a good evening!
Hugs,
Charlotte

Mother's Day Boxed card number 2

Good evening everyone!

Yes I am finally here, and the pictures above are what I have been working on for a good friend of mine.....needless to say, many intricate details involved and time consuming......but my project is finally complete!! Whew! I hope she likes it. The request was for a boxed Mother's day card using the colors peach, brown and minty green. I started with one of my three panel cards and thought, what the heck let's add a few more.....am I a glutten for punishment or what?? Why do I make things more complicated....maybe it's because I like the challenge!!
Anyways, Here is the boxed card set and as you can see each panel is different. I used the gorgeous DCWV dp which I think makes a lovely back drop to work from. I machine stitched some of the panels with a scalloped stitch, used some computer vintage images which I thought appropriate for Mother's day and as my friend has one sister, the two little vintage girls should have perfect meaning for their mom. Other embellishments include flowers from Michael's, gems and metal flower with swarovski crystal.

Card recipe
designer paper - DCWV whimsy
cardstock - Best Occasions
Flowers - Prima Nursery Tales, Michael's
gems - say it in crystals
swarovski crystal bead - jolies
leaves - Martha steward punch

Hope you all enjoy your evening. Will be checking back in sometime over the weekend...hopefully!

Hugs,
Charlotte

Happy Monday everyone, hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Card recipe

Some Really Exciting News!!

Happy Sunday everyone!

It seems a while since I posted anything but it's only a couple of days!! Well I have some really exciting news to share with you all. Priscilla at Priscillastyles asked me if I would like to be a design team member for the upcoming Midnight Madness Challenge and I said Yes, I would love to. This is a group of very talented ladies and I look forward to working with them all. Please join us for the challenges because they should be a lot of fun! The link on my sidebar with the black kitty....no not Maukie my virtual kittie :).... will be the logo to use and below is a list of these talented ladies so you might want to check out their blogs too!! It will be worth it I promise! I look forward to having lots of fun with this design team and would love you to come along and play!!

Have a wonderful week!
